Waiver Certification Specialist
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: While maintaining good public relations and implementing the goals and vision of the regional center, this position is responsible for reviewing case files in order to determine eligibility for the Home and Community-based waiver.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: An employee in this position may be responsible for carrying out the following functions: · Conduct an initial eligibility and/or recertification review to determine or verify continued eligibility and participation in the Federal Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver Program; · Monitor, audit and review consumer’s records; · Develop reports and other analysis related to participation in the Federal Waiver; · Maintain accurate and appropriate records; · Analyze consumers’ records accurately and take effective action; · Communicate clearly and concisely; · Organize and manage time effectively · Complete staff reports as required; and other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: One year of professional and technical experience in a public or private agency working directly with persons with developmental disabilities performing either level of care or case management duties and possession of a bachelor’s degree in a human services field, including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, social work and psychology.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of principles, objectives and techniques in the human care and habilitation of persons with developmental disabilities and the rights of persons with developmental disabilities.

The Lanterman Act is part of California law that sets out the rights and responsibilities of persons with developmental disabilities. San Andreas is one of 21 regional centers throughout California serving individuals and their families who reside within Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz Counties.
